| Posting on VMKMagic Posting on VMKMagic enables you to Unleash the Magic of Disney in a family-friendly community where you can communicate with users from various Disney games and much more. To ensure your safety here at VMKMagic, we have numerous staff members who are here to keep you safe. We ask that you post threads in the correct forum; your thread topic should match that of the forum name and description that you are posting in. Although moderators will move topics if they are not in the appropriate forum, please make every effort to post in the correct section of the forum at all times. At VMKMagic we have certain rules that must be followed around our site. Below is the Official VMKMagic Rules. Family-Friendly VMKMagic is a family-friendly website; therefore all topics, comments, concerns, posts, and threads must be appropriate for ALL ages. Inappropriate Adult-Rated Material, Extreme Violence, Drugs and Alcohol, & Profanity are all examples of inappropriate material. Any Pictures, Links, Comments, or Video are not permitted if they are not family friendly. Please have links approved by a staff member by sending them a private message requesting a link to be approved for posting. Hotlinking Images Please make sure that when you are posting images in the RPG forum, or anywhere on VMKMagic, that you are not hotlinking images. Hotlinking an image is when you post the image through it's original URL. If you are going to post an image, make sure that you re-host it on an image hosting service. Once you have done that, you can then post it on our forums. Hotlinked images, when posted to the forums, will be removed by moderation staff. Flaming/Stereotyping Flaming is an act which directly or indirectly criticizes a user in a way that could injure the user mentally, or emotionally. Flaming can really hurt a person and is not allowed at this site. In additional note flaming is not accepted even if it is to a "thing", (e.g. another site). Stereotyping is an act in which one "picks on" different groups/trends/clans/race and is insulting. Posts in which a user is flaming or negatively stereotyping is strictly prohibited. Harassment Harassing a member or staff member is not permitted anywhere on VMKMagic. This includes via private message, visitor message, the chatroom, or ANYWHERE on VMKMagic. Simply send a private message to a staff member and they will more than happy to set things straight between you and the person bothering you. Alternatively, you may add a person who is bothering you to an "Ignore" list so that their activity on the forums is hidden from you. Trolling Trolling is defined as inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic posts with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of disrupting normal on-topic discussion. All posts that are found to be made with the intent to troll will be removed immediately. Personal Information Personal information, defined as your location, age, grade, etc., is permitted on VMKMagic so long as it is not being express as an advertisement. The statement of such information in an innocent fashion on VMKMagic is acceptable. Personal pictures, defined as pictures of yourself or those who you know, cannot be posted outside of the Shutterbug Follies usergroup forum. Personal pictures are not permitted in other forums, your profile, your userpage, the chatroom, or any other VMKMagic locations. The VMKMagic Staff reserve the right to remove any personal information posted anywhere on VMKMagic at any time if we feel that it threatens your safety. Illness and "Pity Parties" Talking of illnesses on VMKMagic has certain limitations. Those who post about their illness may only post providing the sole intention of the post is for support of your fellow VMKM'ers. Any postings of your illness that in any way asking for favoritism or anything other than support will not be tolerated. Additionally, those who respond to illness-related posts with anything other than support for the original poster, will have violated this rule. English Language Forum We are an English language forum. Any other languages, including made-up words and gibberish, are not permitted. The only exceptions are well known foreign quotes or phrases. Advertising Using VMKMagic as your own personal advertising space is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to sharing links via private messages, posting links on forum pages, and sharing links through the VMKMagic chat room. You may not share links to other forums or websites that may violate VMKMagic's rules. If you are unsure whether or not your link is acceptable for posting, please send a private message to a staff member. Spamming Spamming is the act of creating multiple or useless threads, topics, words, posts, smilies, etc. Please limit yourself to exactly three consecutive identical characters. Leniency will be practiced in some situations. Spamming is not tolerated ANYWHERE on VMKMagic. Threads or posts that have no topic for discussion are considered spam, and are not allowed on the forums. Euphemisms A euphemism is the substitution of a mild, indirect, or vague expression for one thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt. Because these can be interpreted multiple ways, they are disallowed so that no questionable material is on the forum. Bumping a Thread (BUMP= Bring Up My Post) - This is a common practice on many forums. If you were the last one to post, you must wait 24 hours to bump the thread and post again. You may only bump your own threads, and other users may not bump your threads. Multiple/Double Posting Multiple Posting is only allowed when bumping a thread after twenty-four (24) hours. You MAY multiple post when posting guides so that information is not cluttered and disorderly. Favoritism Favoritism of any person or group of people is not allowed. Favoritism usually leads to negative behavior and flaming which is not permitted at VMKMagic. Favortism can be a result of sterotyping, which is also not allowed. Impersonation of Others Impersonation of any VMKMagic member, VMKMagic Staff Member, Celebrity, or anyone other then yourself is not permitted here at VMKMagic. Multiple/Sharing Accounts You are allowed one account to use on VMKMagic. Multiple accounts are not allowed, and they will be removed. If you an others who live with you are allowed to make seperate accounts to access VMKMagic; you should not be sharing an account to access the website. This is the ONLY case in which there may be multiple accounts on a certain IP address. Plagiarism The full copying of articles, mostly when the content has been written from someone coming from another website/forum is prohibited. This also applies to the "stealing" of pictures, videos, music files, etc. that are not owned, or hosted by yourself in your own account at any holster you host files at. This means that to be able to reproduce any of the mentioned files, you will have to host it in your own holster and must differ from what already posted on another sites. If you are using information/pictures/others from VMKMagic, you must include a link to VMKMagic, explaining the information/picture/others has been grabbed from this site, even if you are hosting the media in your own holster. Exceptions: VMK Newsletter Articles and Disneyland/WDW/HKDL, etc. extracted articles. You should cite your source when you grab an article from another site (but not post the URL, IE: "I got my article from VMKMagic" not "I got my article from http://www.vmkmagic.com), unless this article was created on another VMK-related fansite. In this case, you aren't allowed to post it as it is, but remake it with your own words. Backseat Moderating Please do not, at any time, backseat moderate anywhere on VMKMagic. Your backseat moderating only creates spam, which then needs to be removed. If you see something that is not allowed on VMKMagic, please simply report it or send a private message to a staff member. Chain Letters Spreading generalized messages for the sake of just reproducing the message endlessly is strictly prohibited on VMKMagic. These kinds of messages are usually made up from a curse that could happen to you if you do not send the message to X amount of people. If you are told to send the same exact message to an X amount of people, please do not do so and report the person who is asking you to do so, so that it can be removed before it spreads around the website. Messages such as "__ % of people like ___. If you are among the ___ % that doesn't, put this in your signature!!" are considered a chain letter and are not allowed. VMKMagic Signatures A signature must be no bigger than 500 x 250. A big signature causes forum clutter and makes pages look disorganized. The suitable signature size is the set rule that you must follow in order to have a signature. The image below is exactly 500 x 250.  ,This means that your entire signature (including words) should fit in that box. You can not have multiple signatures with that size of image. You can not go bigger than the image. Everything must fit; this goes for height and width. If you want to know how big your signature is, right click on the image and click properties and it will tell you how big the image is in pixels. If the image is smaller or equal to 500 x 250, you're good. But, remember that you cannot have that image PLUS another small one. NOTE: All staff members reserve the right to remove any signature, without warning, that is over the set limits. Leniency will be practiced at times. Spoiler Tag The spoiler tag, like all codes on VMKMagic must be used appropriately. Spoilers are to be used to aid in the organization of posts. In the case of a large image, the thumb tag should be used. Spoilers should not be necessary for submissions to any contest and are not allowed to be used in order to fit more images and text into your signature. Controversial Topics Controversial topics like politics and religion are not allowed under any circumstances. You may not advertise or in some way impose your religion or political views, and you may not express condemnation of another religious or political belief. You may civilly discuss other controversial topics currently popular in society so long as what you say in no way debates/questions/promotes/etc. the legitimacy of said controversial topic. Username Changes You may choose to change your username once every six months. To request a username change send a private message to a Senior Moderator or Administrator explaining why you would like a username change. Once your username is changed, you may not receive another one until six months have passed. Usernames are limited to 16 characters, the characters A-Z, 0-9, and common grammatical marks (. ! ? - : +) etc. The VMKMagic Chat The VMKMagic chat has some additional rules which include: - Moderators: Anyone with a yellow icon next to their name is considered a VMKMagic staff member, and should be treated as one. - Games and Events: Members may not host games or events in the VMKMagic chat room. - Singing: Singing is restricted to the Pop Culture room. - Users must refrain from using bright colors and bolded/italicized font. VMKMagic Userpages VMKMagic does not allow any third party programs, flash applications, and web links that enable any type of chat function that is not able to be monitored by VMKMagic Staff. This does include, but is not limited to flash drawing boards, flash chats, and other features that may lead to inappropriate content. Scripts, or excessive use of pop-up windows is not permitted. Please keep userpage HTML clean and organized to maintain a fully functional page. You may NOT hide anything on your userpage, such as a shoutbox without permission from a staff member. ____________________________ All VMKMagic Rules are to be followed at all times. Consequences will be placed depending on how severely a rule(s) is violated. Consequences range from a simple PM reminder, to an infraction, and ultimately to a ban. Not everything is spelled out in the VMKMagic rules word-for-word: some things are implied, and the VMKMagic Staff reserve the right to remove any content form the website that we feel is not in the best interest of the forums and its userbase. Additional Rules There are some additional rules located in specific forums in the form of Codes of Conduct. VMKMagic.com reserves the right to change any rule at any time, without notice or permission from any user. None of our rules/policies will be changed at any user's request. VMKMagic.com reserves the right to all of its images, the "VMKMagic" name, and any other information on the site. Any attempt to copy, change, or impose images on this site is strictly prohibited and legal action will be taken in these matters if deemed necessary. VMKMagic is not responsible for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or any other damages arising out of or in connection with the use of this website or in reliance on the information available on the site.
